ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. Former Rays third baseman Evan Longoria will throw the ceremonial first pitch Tuesday night at Tropicana Field before Tampa Bay hosts the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 4 of the World Series. First pitch is set for 8 p.m. ET, with the game carried on FOX, FOX Deportes and FOX One.
The Rays enter Tuesday down three games to none in the best-of-seven series after a 10-1 loss to the Brewers in Game 3 on Monday. The Rays have not advanced to Game 6 of a World Series after falling behind 3-0. The 2004 Boston Red Sox remain the only club to erase a 3-0 deficit in a best-of-seven postseason series, doing so against the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series.
Longoria was picked third overall by Tampa Bay in the 2006 MLB Draft and debuted in the majors in 2008. That year the Rays moved from last place to first in the American League East, won the division and reached the first World Series in franchise history. He stayed with the club through 2017 and helped Tampa Bay reach the postseason four times in his first five seasons.
On the final day of the 2011 regular season, Longoria hit a walk-off home run against the New York Yankees to help the Rays claim an American League wild-card spot over the Boston Red Sox. The play is part of what fans call Game 162. His walk-up music, "Down and Out" by Tantric, played during his time with the team.
Longoria signed a one-day ceremonial contract in 2025 to retire as a Ray. The team later inducted him into the Rays Hall of Fame and retired his No. 3 jersey during a weekend marking his career. His appearance follows former Rays manager Joe Maddon and pitcher James Shields, who shared first-pitch duties before Game 3.
Rays manager Kevin Cash has not confirmed changes to the batting order ahead of Tuesday's game. The lineup will take the field as Tampa Bay tries to avoid elimination against Milwaukee.
First pitch is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at Tropicana Field.
