Bradenton residents and other viewers across Florida can expect a different kind of election night coverage this cycle. Politico will broadcast a live video program on Tuesday, November 3, starting at 9 p.m. The show, titled Politico Elections Live, will stream on the outlet's website, its mobile app, and YouTube. The format replaces the traditional scoreboard style with a panel of five journalists who will break down results as they happen.

The panel consists of three co-authors from Politico's Playbook newsletter. Adam Wren, Dasha Burns, and Will Steakin will join two senior figures from the newsroom. Jonathan Martin, a senior political columnist, and Alex Burns, the senior executive editor, will round out the group. These reporters have spent the election cycle traveling to various states. They are in constant contact with candidates and campaign staffs across the nation.

Politico's global editor in chief, Jonathan Greenberger, explained the rationale for the shift in format in a statement. He noted that the audience wants more than just vote counts on election night. Greenberger said the program puts viewers in the room with the reporters as results arrive. He added that the panel will provide a sharp read on what the night means for the current political landscape and for the 2028 cycle.

The livestream caps a period of extensive midterm coverage for the outlet. Politico journalists have traveled across the country to relay findings. They appeared in video programming such as On the Road with Jonathan Martin, presented by Meta. They also participated in The Conversation with Dasha Burns. Both shows featured reporting from swing states during this cycle.

In recent months, Politico placed new emphasis on video podcasts. The outlet aims to showcase its journalists, many of whom also contribute to mainstream news outlets. The November 3 broadcast will be the culmination of that reporting effort. Viewers will see the five panelists share insights from their sources and explain the implications of the results for national politics in the weeks following the election.

Political analysts expect the show to run through the night as returns come in. The program will focus on the Senate and House races. It will also cover key governorships. The panel will use their on-the-ground reporting to contextualize the numbers. This approach marks a departure from standard cable news election coverage.
